Workshop Structure:

1. Welcome & Introduction 

• Hands-Off Learning: Participants are greeted with a refreshing gin cocktail upon arrival. The host introduces Oo La Lab, the concept of the workshop, and outlines what participants can expect.
• Overview of Gin: A brief history of gin, its botanical components, and how it parallels the world of perfumery. The connection between olfactory notes in both gin and perfume is highlighted.
• Objectives: By the end of the workshop, participants will have crafted a unique, gin-inspired fragrance and enjoyed a guided tasting of premium gins.

2. Gin Tasting Flight

• Hands-On Learning: Participants are guided through a tasting of three distinct gins, each with different botanical profiles. The flight includes:
  • Gin 1: A classic London Dry Gin with notes of juniper, coriander, and citrus.
  • Gin 2: A New Western-style gin with a floral and herbaceous character.
  • Gin 3: An Old Tom Gin with sweeter, spiced notes.
• Sensory Analysis: Attendees are encouraged to identify and describe the aroma, taste, and finish of each gin, noting the specific botanicals that stand out.

3. Introduction to Perfumery & Scent Families 

• Hands-Off Learning: The host introduces the basics of perfumery, including the structure of a fragrance (top, middle, and base notes) and the different scent families (citrus, floral, spicy, woody, etc.).
• Gin Botanicals & Fragrance Notes: Discussion on how the botanicals found in gin can inspire perfume creation. Examples include juniper as a top note, orris root as a base note, and coriander as a middle note.

4. Selecting & Blending Your Fragrance 

• Hands-On Learning: Participants are guided through the process of selecting their fragrance notes to create their gin-inspired perfume. Oo La Lab’s chemistry table will be set up with various scent options categorised by top, middle, and base notes.
  • Top Notes: Citrus, juniper, mint, bergamot.
  • Middle Notes: Coriander, angelica, lavender, rose.
  • Base Notes: Orris root, cedarwood, vetiver, spice.
• Blending: With guidance, participants blend their chosen notes, experimenting with different combinations to find their perfect gin-inspired scent. Each participant will create a 30ml custom perfume to take home.

5. Bottle & Label Your Creation

• Hands-On Learning: Participants will decant their blended fragrance into a sleek glass bottle and personalise it with a label, including the name of their fragrance and key notes used.
• Personal Touch: Each bottle is presented in a chic, minimalist box, ready to take home.

6. Final Gin Cocktail & Socialising 

• Hands-On Enjoyment: To conclude the workshop, participants enjoy a final gin cocktail, crafted to highlight the botanicals that inspired their fragrances.
• Social Time: Participants are encouraged to share their creations, exchange ideas, and mingle with other guests. This is a great opportunity to relax and enjoy the ambiance of the workshop.

7. Closing & Takeaway

• Wrap-Up: The host offers closing remarks, thanking participants for attending and offering tips on how to wear and store their new perfume.
